THINK AORTA and save a life

Aortic Dissection is a time-critical, life threatening disease that affects around 6 in 100,000 people. Untreated, it is usually fatal. Mortality for patients with acute Type A Aortic Dissection is 1% an hour and 48% of patients do not make it to hospital alive. Research has shown that a diagnosis of Aortic Dissection is considered in less than half of patients who arrive at the ED with the condition and that one-third of patients with Aortic Dissection are actively treated for a different, incorrect diagnosis. The THINK AORTA campaign aims to raise awareness and improve diagnosis of Aortic Dissection worldwide. Our global, life-saving campaign is supported by many of the world's leading professional medical and surgical societies. The THINK AORTA poster is now available in the native language of 50% of the world's population and our rollout continues around the globe.

For WHO World Patient Safety Day 2024 on 17th September we are highlighting acute Aortic Dissection as a disease in which we need to improve diagnosis for patient safety. We will be working with our partners around the world to raise awareness of this message and to urge healthcare professionals to THINK AORTA and save lives.
